Halloween: The Game Crossplay & Friend Invites

Halloween: The Game supports cross-platform multiplayer. To invite someone from another platform, use the Crossplay tab in Friends and exchange the game’s friend code. A Steam, PlayStation or Xbox display name is not necessarily that code.

Enable crossplay and add the right friend

  1. Open Multiplayer, then its menu: Tab on keyboard or Menu on controller. In Settings → General, check the crossplay setting.
  2. Open Friends using the three-person icon. The first tab contains platform friends; switch to the second, Crossplay tab for cross-platform friends.
  3. Share the code shown there or enter your friend’s code and send the request. Have the recipient accept it.
  4. Invite the accepted friend to your party before choosing your match.

Menu paths are described by GamesRadar’s crossplay guide and All Things How (September 5). Use the current menu labels if you have remapped the controls.

Crossplay does not mean shared progression

Those guides report that progression remains on the platform where it was earned, rather than transferring with a cross-platform friend connection. Treat an invite code as a way to find a player, not as an account-transfer or purchase-transfer mechanism. Do not buy another platform copy on the assumption that it carries your levels and cosmetics over.

Likewise, adding a friend online does not establish local split-screen support. This procedure is for players connecting through their own online clients.

Find which step failed

  1. Cannot find the player: compare the exact code in the Crossplay tab, not only their platform username.
  2. Request sent, no party: confirm acceptance first; sending a friend request and sending a party invite are different actions.
  3. Party breaks when moving into play: record which player was leader and the platform of each participant. The official launch / 1.0.1 notes (September 8) included a fix for crossplay parties not following the leader. That historical fix does not rule out a new party problem.
